    i used a piece of steel, 1 inch wide and 2 inches long, drilled a hole at either end and bolted that onto the original fitting on the chassis, where you have the rad bolted to now, the rad was then bolted to the 2nd hole on the plate i made to mount the rad further in, the i/c then could be mounted further in too.
    The Pro-alloy 100mm cored intercooler will not fit an Escort without doing the mods I have detailed above .

        My radiator is sealed to the intercooler and I have slimline fans - there is only a small space between these and the pullies:
