Our dad had a recovery truck that was pre-transit, think it was called a 'custom' or similar, powered by an unreliable straight 6 so they took that out and dropped a 3.5 rover v8 in instead.

that Windsor timber photo on the link must have been where my van driver learned to drive, hes turned a good 07 plate transit into one thats worse than the one in the photo

ford a series butt,some people call them a transit a series although searching anything transit usually brings up 10 tonnes of new shite 1st,best place for anything like the old stuff is here.................... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_A-Series

My dad had a recovery truck when i did my apprenticeship it would never start without being towed or lots the magic spray so noisy and slow:-( can't remember if it was A or D series
