  • Tech Question - Anyone running drysump system in here?

And have the tank in the front? Im going to have the tank behind the front bumper, but it would be nice to see if someone else has done the same. This is for a roadcar, so i dont want to have the tank in the back with all the hoses running under the car.

What happens if you have a small bump though? No pressure, engine go rattle rattle bang bang?

A would go down through the battery tray or run braided hose down the side of the centre console under the carpet/rear seat to the boot

I think I've seen a few pictures of time attack cars with them in the front. It can be done but as said above if you have a bump you need to be quick in switching the motor off. Try speaking to Rod Tarry, he's having one fitted in his boot now.

Complete waste of time and money - you will NEVER generate the cornering forces on the road to warrant it, so why bother with all the expense and hassle? Think of something else to spend your money on .

You mean if i have a crash and the tank gets broken? It will be placed where the windowwashertank was and will be well protected from any damage. It will not be close to the ground so it can get damaged that way. And if i crash that hard i guess the engine will be shut down anyway. Im going to make a mock up tank today and fill it up so i know i have at least 6 liters. Then i have to get someone to make it. Have seen several cars with the tank in front, but no escorts.

Mike. I guess i never gonna need 700whp either, BUT im still having it.
The problem is that if im ever get stopped in technical, my car will never see the plates again, so im just getting ready for having it as a trackcar. If i only spent my money on what i needed to, the car would look exactly as it did 7 years ago.

The point I was making is that there are plenty of 700+bhp track Cosworths that don't have a dry sump system and have no issues what-so-ever . If the dry-sump system isn't set up by someone who knows what they are doing, it can actually be worse than the standard system.

What size tank are you thinking of having though?

At least 6-7 liters or as much i can get with the room i have. The guy setting up the system for me have several cars with this and know what he is doing.

I didnt have the room for a tank in the engine bay unfortunatly so I have placed mine in the passanger footwell. It's not ideal for a track car but serves a purpose.

It will eventually be boxed in for safety aspect.
