  • Anybody know anything about 16mm projectors?

I know this is a long shot in this day and age, but I’ve just inherited a couple of box’s full of 16mm film that my grandfather and my dad took. But there's no 16mm projector, so I need one to view the films. I’m not even sure if there’s sound on them. What makes are good/bad etc?

Could be very interesting looking into my families past….or find some dodgy stuff

    Thanks
    John

Ever considered having them put onto a DVD and then there would be no need to buy a 16mm projector. Not sure how much this would be as I don't know how much film you have, but there are plenty of companies that do this these days.

    Scouse.

This my intention once I see what's on the film. I'll put the good stuff onto DVD. There are quite a few boxes. I estimate there are days of viewing. I don't want to put junk onto DVD, just to pay and never watch it.

You might also want to speak to someone about the actuall tape itself, if its been stored for many years, depending on what type of tape it is, it can degrade and literally disintegrate as you try to play it. I think some of these older reels need a heating process before they are played.

Wow. Didn't know that. I may approach a company before I start. Thanks for the info.
