in my world (and everyone else i know) this is a flat bed trailer......

something that attaches to the back of a car is merely a car trailer??

and the reason i asked about dfds is, a few years ago they were taken over by DSV, then DSV bought out norfolk line but couldnt trade as one big firm (something to do with monopalising the market ) so had to revive dfds - but as far as i was aware only as road transport ..."DFDS logistics" is what they are called in immingham - all the boats in immingham i'm sure now fall under the banner of DSV. not really important i guess, just thought i'd try and clear it up...... thanks for the sarcasm anyway

In my world (as in international freight forwarding) a flat bed is found on a RIGID vehicle, that's an articulated trailer!

And now i know why when my staff instruct carrier haulage to ONLY use a rigid vehicle due to access....... They turn up with a trailer

Car transporter = flatbed van with ramps. (Ford transit, Iveco, Merc Sprinter etc)

In the eyes of the law, the lettering means jack shit. You could buy an ex recovery truck still lettered up, and as long as its correctly licensed and insured for your use then it matters not a jot what is written on it.

however you are right you might attract fuzz attention albeit they wont be able to do anything.

The word "recovery" is not a protected title for vehicle use as yet.
