if anyone has gone to the trouble to look at the chassis number and the reg plate on a car just to get into the resto forum then personally I think that A) they ain't a thief or they would have nicked the one they looked at! and B) they are interested genuinely in the marque anyway! and C) there is a good chance they would get caught out by the genuine owner on here eventually when posting photos of it!

thought that a name on a V5 doesnt necesarily mean they are the owner but the registared keeper... ??

on the v5 it says exactly this....registered keeper is not necessarily the legal owner...

Can you tell the excact build date by the chassis number ?

Franco, on most Escort Cosworth's the full chassis number is on display to anyone who wants to see it (between dashboard and windscreen).

Just checked my car, and it doesn't have the chassis number between the dashboard and windscreen? My dashboard is out, so can see very well. So what's the story behind this?
