  • Breaking down

My car broke down again last night on the way to Dorset BBQ !!!!
Have changed fuel pump, wiring , safety cut out switch relays etc .... No spark or fuel pump last night , but turns over ok , could it be crank sensor ( if do how do you test and can they fail intermittently? ) or is the fuse box the main suspect ,have checked all connections to it , all ok

Or is the only option a box of matches and a gallon of fuel 😡😡😡😡

    Possibly cps.

Last time I had this issue it was a wire earthed that shouldn't of been earthed

crank sensor can be intermittent, they aren't expensive so worth changing to eliminate.

how many alarms and immobilisers has the car got or had fitted,if your car has like a lot on here 3 old alarms fitted and a new one sometimes they can play up,i'd say its worth a decent sparky havin a dekko

Car has been fully resprayed , new hoses etc under bonnet . not used for about 2 years.
                    Brake downs
1: on way back from dorset !! fuel pump did not prime then started after about 2 hours
2: after 2 1/2 hr drive to central day , parked on stand , would not start ( fuel pump not priming again
Changed fuel pump for new walbro one in tank and replaced mini wiring harness from behind rear bumper to pump .
3: 5 min from leaving my house fuel pump not priming again
4 : at hants meet monday this week 30 mins drive there , couple hrs there then started but stalled no fuel pump again but fired up after 10 min.
5: on m27 on way to dorset bbq last night , no fuel pump again also no spark , but ignition lights on ok and turns over ok , still will not start today

I have not checked for spark each time assumed fuel pump issues.
New pump , mini loom , checked wiring to fuel cutout switch , changed switch,
cozzfather alarms etc all checked ( without going into too much detail) defo not them.

wondering about crank sensor but thought they just give up,
                    thinking maybe fuse box

getting the right hump with it now , may have to get rid
                    cheers brendan

i have known cosworths that wouldn't go and garages that have said its fooked and yet someone who knew what they were doing looked under the bonnet and wiggled the crank sensor or something else and it started, its a very bad moment when you change stuff that costs ££££££'s and what the car really needed was someone who knew what they were doing to look at it. i'd be finding someone who's good on electrics to look at it while its not running and check everything .

I would take it to someone in the know. I have used Mark Shead who I think is about the closest to us. He knows his stuff
