  • Play in steering rack

Can any of you cosworth owners confirm if you have play in your steering rack?

Sitting stationary with car/power steering off, the steering wheel will turn about 3" each way loosely, so play in the rack, is this the norm? The rack was bought fully reconditioned from a proper firm so should be ok but I have never had 1 to compare, all the steering knuckle joints and splines are tightened and ok, just appears to be play in the rack/pinion part

    Thanks
    Marc

Who did you buy the recon off Marc? There's one specific firm that do them for around £160 and they take your old one off you too. They all eventually wear, but as a newly refurbed one not so much

No slop in mine. 42k on the clock. 3" free play sounds all wrong.
              Cheers
