I have the 520 177 and its great plenty of power for a daily runner i live 3 miles away from work and get 40mpg on a run the other day loaded up going on family hols i got 55mpg i agree a 530 would be nice but the 520 does a fantastic job if you fancy a drive I'm only down the road

Only 40mpg? Is it an auto? My 530 will do 37 on a run.
My dads 320d manual usually averages 50.

never having another BMW again, shocking in the snow to the point of
Embarrassment living in wales and owning a BMW or Merc just dont sit well together, I had a 535d when i had my CSL and thought i had the best combo! but then a few days of snow changed that!

Bought an X5 thinking it would eat the snow up but wrong again made me look like a novice! Now I own a freelander, Range rover and defender and I take my chances on reliability but never going back! They are awesome!

But the 335d/535d or X5 35d engine is really something else! you would have thought zee germans having snow aswel would have squared there motors away!

This is how my x5 was
£55 to change indicator bulb as you need special tool to remove headlight
£100 to check if battery was ok, breakdown £30 to check charging, £30 to discharge and £40 to charge battery up, told the bloke I could buy a brand new charger for less than that at halfrauds just down the road to be told we are BMW and charge a£100 an hour and your car will not be coming out of compound until you pay
£2600 to fit new satnav screen, breakdown £1800 for screen £280 for plastic surround which I didn't need buy apparently had to have and rest to fit or £245 at local hifi place for repair
Battery went flat every 2 days but nothing wrong according to BMW

If you want to be ripped of by wankers that talk down to you like a piece of shit or get a loan every 100 miles to fill it up buy a x5 hence why they are cheap

MAD tuned, DP engine, 530 bhp 480 lbft, autronics, anti lag, EFR 7670,

Any car is shit in the snow unless you have proper tyres. We have long winters here in Norway, plenty of BMW drivers, including myself, have no problems.
If you get snow in the winter, you need proper winter tyres, simple as that
