    Morning all,
New to this site but had my escort cosworth small turbo for 3 years now, have a problem with it at the moment, took the car out for a run about 3 months ago everything fine put it back in the garage and forgot to plug in my charger to keep the battery topped up. About a month later went to take her out again and found that there was no life in the battery charged it up back up to just under 13volts, and the car would crank over but would not start(fuel pump would prime but no engine fire) now the car will not prime and not turn over. The car has a Clifford concept 600 on it which seams to be working fine and it recognises me via the valet code i put in to it, doors lock and open and boot via alarm fob, as the car has been delocked no keys are used to open it, taken the door cards off and worked the locks manually and still no joy. The light on the dashboard by the clock stays on for about 1 min then goes off but still no fire from the engine. Any ideas chaps
    Kind regards,
    James

Take a sparkplug out earth it on the engine and crank it over to see if you have a spark would be a good start, I'm now thinking you said it won't turn over lol put power to the little wire on the starter that should make it go it could be an alarm fault get another car and try to jump it

Mate, these cars are renowned to have dicky factory fitted alarm/immobilisers If you had door locks I could tell you how to reset the alarm and immobiliser, but not having them, i suppose you'd have to do it from inside the door panel somehow

You need to turn the key (if you had a door lock) to the left and then to the right. This arms both the alarm/immobiliser and the dead locks on the car. Turning the key (again if you had door locks on outside) left dis-arms the alarm/immobilser and dead locks. If this doesn't solve it, try doing the same to the passenger side and try a few times as these alarms can be a pain. I don't use mine now as it's started to go funny too. Sometimes the car wont start and then it will....................fails to start at the worst possible times too!!

I'm not saying this is the fault, but could well be!

As Scouse saysalso try disconnecting the battery with door open and leave for 10 mins as this may also reset alarm etc

            Help

            Hi All,

Hope you all had a good crimbo, still no joy with the escort tried everything that has been said, car will still not do anything, still in the same state. found a black box in the passanger foot well, is this the imobliser some of the wires go to what looks like a fob port by the gear stick but i have never used this and i dont have any key/fob plug that goes in it, before i take the dash out to trace all the cables, is there anything eles i could try, does the chip in the key have a battery life? has anyone out there have any wiring diagrams to the ecu/alarm imobliser, this is starting to do my head in now been about 5/6 months since i have driven it need the smell and sound of it back, even went to fords by me today asking about wiring info but need to speak to a technician and they were all busy going back wednesday but if anyone out there could help i would realy appreciate it

            Kind Regards

            James
