As I've my side skirts off and getting the sill lips tidied up I'm going to give the underside a clean up aswell.

This is how it looks ATM

To tidy it up do I just take all of this black crap off and just recoats in waxoyl again or what would be the best thing to do?

Also is it best to use black waxoyl, or the clear one? Just want it to look a bit fresher under there

What benefit would there be in it looking 'fresher'

To me, that looks exactly as it should, i can't see any issues, i also recently had the seam along the sills done but didn't go any further than that as it would have been unnecessary work that would have achieved nothing........... a well known Cosworth bodyshop signed my car off as being totally sound after doing the seam and it looks just like yours

      Maybe your right Julian??

I might just touch up the little pieces of rust showing and be done with it!

When you got your sills done did they paint them? If they did, did you then rewaxoyl over them in black?

To be honest i'm not exactly sure what was done............ 90% of the seam was fine but in a couple of places it had been knocked (probably by a jack) and water must have started to ingress as the seam was swelling where rust was forming in the join so i guess they opened it open, cleaned it out and re-joined it just at those points. It's now red but i can feel it's covered in clear sealer of some sort. I believe they also pumped sealer into the sill aswell so it runs down onto the top of that seam and protects it from both sides They said it looked like this had probably already been done but they gave it another dose for good measure

Yea I'm going to inject some waxoyl into mine, mine sounds exactly like yours, 90% perfect apart from the odd swelling. Getting it all sorted next week so I may make sure it's done right!!

Difficult to judge yours from just one pic but looks very much like mine and given the age of these cars i'd say they are doing pretty well and should continue to do so

I think people who spend too much time poking around under the car rather than being in it are missing the point by a country mile

Now, if you'll excuse me i'm off to get some fuel as i'll be out in mine on a big road trip early tomorrow morning
