  • Auto XS trickle charger problem

Connected up my Auto XS trickle charger there for the first time, I don't think it is working right
When I hit the mode button it reads 8.4 volts with the standby symbol.
Every time I try and press the mode button again to select a setting it keeps taking another voltage reading then goes back to standby, I can't seem to get the setting for the car

    Anyone able to help?

How low is the battery If it thinks the battery is too low to start with it wont charge. There really for keeping the battery in good order and safe for long periods.
If it reads 8.4 volts that battery is not very well

Give the battery a good charge first .

Ive got 6 running at the moment, tomorrow I will have 8 running......god help my electricity bill.

Frank it says it can charge battery's this low but I guess not, I'll maybe charge it up first with an ordinary charger

That's what I get for leaving it disconnected for 3 weeks

I know , my Porka was a real twat. Read the instruction again, I can remember but I think it says something about very low batteries and how it will charge them but IIRC it sits trying to pulse it over a long period to get the battery onto a condition that can be charge properly.
I'm probably talking out my Arse again, but I do remember there is something about Very low batteries.

Got sorted thanks Frank, quick half hour charge, reconnected and it seems to be working fine, started to click at the start but took terminal of and on again

First time I used one of these so I'm a bit nervous going To bed now and leaving it

            Good news.
Remember if you have a power outage you will have to reset the charger as it switches off.

Went out to check on it before bedtime and I heard it click

I think its pulsing as your battery probably isn't fully recharged.
Keep an eye on it but I think that's normal.
check the voltage reading form time to time and the bars up the side , if it shows fully charged then no problem.
dont forget they do pulse charge to maintain the battery as well. Thats how they work on very poor batteries.
tBH I havent heard mine doing it but I only ever put them on known fully charged batteries or perhaps slightly discharged but nothing to low.
Let me know how you get on. I have loads here , if its not working we can swap and I will return your to ALDI no worries.
