  • Removing steering lock

I need to move a sierra Cosworth but keys have been lost, is there a way of removing the steering lock without breaking it? I don't need to start it just push it.

You can take the knuckle off in the engine bay but
You would have to steer it with the wheels

Just put a trolley jack under the front x member jack the front wheels an inch off the floor and get a mate to push while you steer the car using the trolley jack. So long as the garage floor or drive isn't like the surface of the moon you youl have no problems...... Simples

would be far quicker to call out a auto locksmiths.

they will have a ford key lock pick like this:

once theyve picked the door lock they can read off the tibbe key code and either make a temporary key like this:

or knock up a proper key for you.

They probably wouldnt even need the lock pick to get in the door as they would use a wedge to open the door top and get in a hook to open from the inside.

                Medically Discharged!! Officially insane!!!

its a shame they dont make an electronic lock pick with tibbe adaptors on. You can get them for most household locks but never seen one for car locks. many dont have pins as such hence why it probably wouldnt work.

I need to move it about 10 miles, I have a trailer ready but the steering is slightly turned so will struggle to get it on the trailer straight.
                        The doors are open.
Also need it moving ASAP so don't know when I could get a key cut with the bank holidays

Remove the steering wheel and use vise grips to steer it. The locking mechanism (if I remember correctly) is locks the steering wheel (hub) not the actual steering shaft, or maybe that's the escsort....now I forgot which
