I've got the t4 (the older one to that one) and love it, I'm just in the mids of selling my escort to get a t5..

Its ace fun we've a little lad and he loves going away camping in it.

Heard a lot of horror stories about the T5 but the T4 is already showing signs of being a classic.

It's more the 2.5 engine on the t5 that give the problems.

i had a 2.5 t4, 4 years ago as my work van, i called it the scooby slayer as it was chipped & fast as fook!... i had it as part of my redundancy for £600 & sold it bact to the re named company to get my job back when they re started .... should of kept it as a project really but the engine did go bang a month later..[only had 118k,... i saw it in july & the new owner has spent a small fortune on it converting & it looks really good

i keep toying with the idea of getting a bigger van so both kids can come with me to places, anything this size and vw though commands a higher price tag, which is a shame as nothing else is as appealing.
                        one for the road?? ......

i hear ya feller, there no better than any other van but i like the surfer chilled out couldnt give a shit thing they give off, plus the vw scene has a really big family thing going on these days so its all good if ya got the kids..

loads of gearbox issues with these... Ours had 11,000 miles on the clock and the box was crunching up and down in 2nd and 3rd. New gearbox under warranty
