  • Original Factory Spec & Options List

    Hi guys,

I am looking to find out what the difference was between the original factory EsCos specs for the motorsport, non-lux and lux models, as well as what factory options were available.

I've done a search for this but can't find anything on here about it.

Can anyone shed some light on this please?

    Cheers,

    Rich

    Motorsport:
Only avalable in white, no stereo, no aerial, no headlight washers, different centre console, no centre armrest for rear seats, no headrests for rear seats, manual front windows, manual mirrors, fixed rear side windows, Karmann "sport" seats, no central locking, no light in glovebox, no height adjustment on drivers seat, no warning light for low fuel or washer fluid, no mirror on passenger sunvisor, no remote opening for boot, fog light grilles (like RS500)
A lot of them seems to have Recaro front seats and front fogs added as options though. And there are a few examples in other colours, my friend has a gloss black one.

    Standard:
Available in several colours, Karmann "sport" seats, AM/FM radio/cassette player, height adjustment of drivers seat, remote boot release, washer jets for headlights, alarm, central locking, front centre console with armrest, mirror on passenger sunvisor, low fuel and washer fluid lights, front fog lights.
The confusing bit is that a lot of the standards seem to have lots of optional stuff fitted often making them hard to distinguish from a Luxury version.

    Luxury:
Avaliable in several colours, Recaro seats, electric front windows, electric mirrors, rear opening side windows, rear seat head rests, rear seat centre armrest, heated windscreen.

I've had a look at that brochure you linked to and some of the known factory options are missing from it. The date of the brochure is June 1992 and it is missing the following options:

        - electrical sunroof
        - aero delete
        - alternative cloth trim colours (only grey hex is detailed)

Where there options that were made available in later years?

There are Escorts with red and green hex from 1992, and there are also factory motorsport versions in other colours than white. So the brochure is obviously not 100% accurate.
As far as I know the delete aero was only a option on the ST versions
The swiss cars were all delete aero as they didnt allow the big upper rear spoiler unless they had some special modifications though.
If I have understood it correctly the delete aero option means just the lower spoiler on the rear and the stone deflector on the front, so no hockey sticks or lower splitter.

That would seem to make sense

Strangely enough that brochure you linked to was published in June 1992, and there was another type published in July 1992! See here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-Escor...50964721490%26

So it would seem they made some immediate alterations to that original brochure.
