  • Car S.O.S on Nat Geo

Just seen a trailer for this program that starts on National geographic on February 7th. They feature a black D plate sierra 3 door. They take cars out of people's garages and restore them, I expect it's a bit like the US version of overhauling but it may be worth a look to see if they do a good job or not.

A good friend of mine Paul at pj Motorsport had this black 3 door in his garage as part of the show for i believe 2 days trying to get it running and they did, I was over the day they were loadin it on the trailer taking it away and a few days later it went to ford fair I believe. That car I'm led to believe was idle a long long time and rushed to get it going for the owner for silverstone

Put it this way that car is at mine currently having a full engine rebuild.
They filmed it at silver stone and now it's being fixed.

It cooked wiring under bonnet so checked it out and found plastic pipe to fuel reg split causing it to run lean. Did a leak down test and had lots of leakage so removed head and found horrors in build so I am now fixing it

Who built the engine for it?

They put a used engine in it without checking or cleaning it and it had Pre been Bodged massive lip on the bores and the pistons have been put in the wrong way round with the arrows facing the back of the engine. Not good with a offset pin as you can imagine how noisy it was.

Jesus wept, Paul had it for 2 days I believe just to troubleshoot and get it running, no money for it and fuck all budget for parts either, I in no way would have taken something like that out on any track let alone silverstone,

The producer said they spent big money on it I can't see where. The turbo was also rubbing on it comp housing also.

I saw it the day or two before ford fair and I wouldn't spend more than 5 grand buying it, it was a very low budget and an extremely short time frame, it was I believe idle some 10 years or more, it deffo wasn't a chip foose type strip down and rebuild that's for sure
