take the sensor out Carlo and put it in a pot of water on the cooker and heat the water with a thermometer and a multimeter. when it gets to the set temp the multimeter will close cct.

You can then adjust it to your desired temperature.

Thats a idea frank i never thought of that but i would still like a gauge , the standard gauge dosent work when you earth the wire against the head it dosent even work i might investigate the original one not working a bit further

Try earthing the back of the gauge as well , you never know the wire from the engine to the gauge might be busted .
you could also use the same with the sender in the block, take it out the block, wire it directly to the gauge and earth it. Pop it in a pan of hot water ( sit it on the car floor) and see if the gauge moves and at what temp. Once you have your gauge working you can work out where 88 /92 deg should be on the gauge its self . Sort of calibrate it, if you know what I mean.

I will i was thinking of external gauge as the standard clocks fetch good money now & if the gauge itself was faulty i would just have bought a stack one or such likes as i have the big switch panel anyway

A bit expensive just for a temp gauge though lads.

Now if Carlo wanted to upgrade the speedo and the rest of the gauges then go for it.

Will you keep the car long enough to justify the spending though.

                          Dave.

You do realise that Stack do just a temp gauge ?

However, I do have an unused ST8130 for sale for a customer - £700 (which is a considerable saving over new). However, it is fitted to in an RS Turbo S2 binicle ready to install into one of these....

I have spoken to andrew and he explained the following , my fan switch is on the top radiator hose which is absolutley no use as its only seeing the hottest water as its not fell through the radiator yet so the fan should only come on when the radiator cant cool it but if its switching from the top its always seeing the warmest air and not the air after the radiator has done its job , he said fit another top hose and take that adjustable switch off and put another top hose on he will weld a boss into my radiator for a cossie fan switch job done. Plus he said if the radiator runs low & the top hose is short in water the switch at the top wont work. i hear what he is saying , so i will look into that.

Mike a for that dash that would be perfect one draw back i dont have £700 i actually shitmyself when i looked at my bank the other day & i got quoted £1200 for a photographer for my wedding so i need to calm spending on this old escort
