  • Any builders on here?

I am seriously thinking about extending my garage so I can work on the car a bit more easily in the dry and just wondered if anyone new roughly the cost to do it.

My current garage aint the largest, measures roughly 10x15, just single skin brick and a flat roof.

I'm looking to add roughly another 4 feet wide and maybe 8 feet longer, still keep a flat roof as everyone else's in the area is like that.

Anyone any idea on rough costs before I get someone out and maybe crap myself in their company

    This is my current one

    Thanks
    Ian

The expensive bit will probably be the roof
Best type is fibre glass Cost. 5 k at a guess
You probably won't get much change from 9 k by the time your done

          Whereabouts are you roughly ?

There are garages and there are garages.

I built mine for about £5k. It's 26' wide, 30' long, insulated cavity walls and tiled pitched roof. That was doing it myself mind you.

Just finished mine, double skin breeze block 7m x 7m with a room above, rendered, insulated cavities and floor reinforced. Slate pitched roof not including the doors and windows, 3k all in.

did you rob alot of the materials as 3k dont sound like enough money to build something to that size and spec , i now the window and door is on top tho.

Nope, concrete was 600 poured, blocks came in around the same then the timber and the slates I already had from a previous job but even then they would have only bumped it up by another 700 quid or so. Insulation is peanuts and then I did all the graft so worked out well.

I would say with a builder you would have paid maybe 8-12k depending on what they think there worth a day and what % they add to the materials etc.

But I have seen people pay 20k for a block garage

No way an extension would cost 9k!
