  • Talk to me about cambelts?

Is there any kind of uprated cambelt or do we just stick with the standard item?

Any ones I should avoid? I am looking on Graham Goodes webside at the moment and the first one I seen was this

    http://shop.grahamgoode.com/timing-b...73-59364-p.asp

What else should I replace while I am at it?

Any idea what a garage would charge in labour to change a cambelt as well?

    Cheers

I've always gone for the standard item, which iirc is a gates belt. I would get a cambelt kit which would include the tensioner as well.

As for how much anywhere between £150 and £300 labour I would have thought, depending on how well you know the garage

Broome, I know the post was about rubber and belts but I think you got your wires crossed

Pics when you get the mask all the same.

Done mine on Escos and Saph plenty of times. Just make sure to check, check and check again!

So this would be fine then.

Kevlar one sounds nice but what are the gains? do they need changing less? or just stronger to prevent snapping?

Cheers Ben, I wont be doing it myself. For the small amount of money it would cost to get a proper mechanic to do it, I wont take the chance.

I might get a few other little bits sorted while it is in.

So would this be a good time to replace anything else?

What other bents have to come off to do the cambelt? Thinking of just putting some new bits on her just so I know they are in good shape?

Will do the job nicely Mark

Kevlar jobbie supposed to be 300% stronger!!

Although I would imagine theres a nice price associated to it as well, for me though providing you check and change it at the required itervals the normal belt should be just fine

Whilst there I would replace the auxillary belt as well, and I think they have a separate air con belt as well, can't remember now unfortunately.

I don't blame you for paying someone to do it. I did a cambelt on the old car, had to get Mark up to help out as well, I fucking hated it and would I do it again, not a chance, I would rather pay someone to do it, as if they get it wrong its their fault
