  • does anti surge front housings make a big diffferance?

As most will know I'm researching for a new blower atm.

Just wondered if I should only be looking for the anti surge type front housing or is the difference bearly noticeable?

    cheers

Think it depends what turbo your afterthe best I would have thought would be a gt3071 or if you game more cash to splash the EFR 7064 twin scroll but you will need a manifold, Surge can kill your power so defo anti surge for gt30 standard on EFR

i think Im ruling the efr out for the min as i cant warrent the money as just don't use the car enough.

I'm currently being offered a gt3076 but i believe its not anti surge however its a very simple purchase with most bits with it so its very tempting as i just want the car going again.

ive got a 60mm intercooler, small turbo inlet and ported small turbo head on a almost standard cr ratio. bd14 inlet

is surge going to be much of a problem with my spec?

      cheers

The hta series spool faster than a std gt

I use to run a blouch billet gt3582 with antisurge on my focus ,
I had 1.7 bar of boost by 4k rpm,
            Which imo is good!

If poss don't use The anti surge housing. We don't use turbos that require them..

What diff does this make then Jim as thought some of the GT could be a bit surge bound and it didn't really make that much difference to performance, always good to learn more do's and don'ts

Yes some are, a ported shroud basically makes them more laggy though so We always get a turbo that dosnt surge so that we can get the boost we want in as soon as poss.

I personally wouldn't run a ported shroud on the 3071/76 on a correct spec engine as they don't tend to suffer. The 35 on the other hand

Ah see your point Jim if you built the engine to spec for gt30 it would be spot on but would you need to be more cautious on a engine not built by yourselves as spec could be wrong or can you get round that with a few easy tweaks and mapping

You can do what a ported shroud does with the mapping on air injectors anyway bud

I know doms spec from when we mapped it, and I don't think a ported shroud would benefit him personally

well if ya know the car etc and are going to be mapping it then best Dom listens to you guys
Good to know you can get round surge with air injectorsgood to keep learning different ways and how it all works

Jim, what would u say is the ideal spec then for a gt3076? I'm curious as I have a gt3076. I'm may go efr further down the line but buying a house is putting a stop to that at the mo!
