  • Polybush a escos

    always thought to Polybush a car would be a great job
    but have been told it leaves a escos harsh to drive for normal road use

    what are your views on them?? anyone have it done and regret it or would they recomend it??

    Hoping to do mine this year and going for YELLOW powerflex which is for fast road or track ,RED ones are for competition and a lot harder ride
    I dont think you will regret it if it makes it handle better

      I did mine the other year accept the rear beam and i couldn't notice that much difference to be honest

      I've since done the rear beam and diff mounting but I've not driven it yet

      I was advised to leave the standard rear arm bushes in and to fit standard type ( group N or something like that) uprated front strut top bushes as nothing else is up to the job & as my Poly ones only lasted 500 miles it must be true

        I've fitted a full front kit to mine and didn't notice much diffrence, fitting a full rear kit in the next coming weeks, dont go for cheap ones though, stick with powerflex

          any poly bushes will make for a harsher ride purely because they are a lot harder than the orig ford rubber bushes,the orig ones will also have done a lot of mileage and softened up even more,mine was pretty harsh esp on poor road surfaces and i kept standard rear beam mounts too

            Mine is completely poly bushed except for the trailing arm ones on the beam, the ride isn't harsh.
            I had an argument with woodford garage about the strut top bushes, I purchased some "group n" ones off his eBay store for £30 and when they arrived they were simply standard ford escos bushes in ford bags complete with finis codes. I double checked this with ford and they were £20 a pair!!!
            Woodford garage reckon that the standard escos bushes are "group n" spec so are only an upgrade for a sierra cossie. Nowhere in their advertisement did it say escort or sierra specific, just cosworth. So my advice for them is go to a ford garage!

              Makes me laugh when I see stuff advertised as group N, most things on a group N car are standard anyway, that's why it's called showroom class

                I got some of those group n top mounts but when I compared them to the old ones I didn't bother to fit them!

                  As long as you don't replace the rear trailing arm bushes, then there is hardly any noticeable difference in NVH (noise / vibration / harshness)

                  The Powerflex road kits are yellow and purple depending on the rigidity required (they do NOT do red ) - they are graded as follows:

                  Yellow = Shore A70 – This their softest material and is generally used in areas of low load or where noise/vibration absorption need to be at the maximum for example with engine / rear beam mounts.

                  Purple = Shore A80 – This is their most commonly used material and offers a good balance between performance and noise/vibration absorption.

                  Black = Shore A 95 – This is their hardest material and is used in areas of high load or for Motorsport/Track applications.

                  Powerflex is fit and forget - cheaper brands are available, but I wouldn't put them on my lawn-mower .

                        If you fit some new trailing arm bushes then don't try using a vice to fit them, they don't like it

                              I have fitted a full front kit which is fine but not done the rear as i have been told by a reliable source that the rear beam ones make the car awful on the roads.
