Thats what i thought graham scott got that escort off peternut & its got a original battery in it but its only been started twice as the battery isnt holding one bit of a charge be a shame to stick a black battery in it

There are still plenty of cars running around with white/clear batterys on them. Ive been thinking about this for a while and whilst its not ideal as they all have round posts whats your option ? I think if you were to sorce a pair of battery cables even new ones from a mk5 or 6 Escort diesal im sure somthing could be done to make them fit and still look factory. Providing there no issues with clearence of the terminals then you could soon find a white battery from s type Jag for instance of ive seen them on Mercs, then just get some Motorcraft stickers on it. The beauty about the for mentioned is that they are either in boot or in a battery box so they are usally in good shape esthectically.

Flat post 097s are like teddy bear poo now, they are still around but if you want one well, youll just have to smile and take it if you see what I mean !

          Hope this helps

I'm really surprised that no one has tried to get these "rare" batterys re manufactured, I bet if someone approached a battery manufacturer and gave them one to copy they would do it and I bet they would sell like "hot cakes" on all the ford forums and clubs out there.

Adder you need to be carefull with the round posts as they can cause fire they arc off the bonnet Paul ripley's done this and the car is that mint scott wouldnt want to go changing battery cables , Ashie i know it might be worth looking into as the S1 boys ect would also be into them

I no what your saying Carlo but was it a problem with the battery adaptors ? A full conversion to proper round post leads may be better . It would certinaly look more factory imo

The problem with round post adapters is the aux fusebox on the plus side won't fit were it should behind the flat post, I had to order a battery of E bay with flat terminals.
