A sad fact of life is that Ford no longer have to supply parts for anything older than 10 years (think that's how long they need to supply parts for, could be a bit longer), so even though RS is in our blood, it isn't in Fords!!!
And some of the parts going for sale I could afford, but won't pay for them at that price! My car is by no means minty mint, but I get to drive it everyday and buying overpriced parts and putting them on my car only for them to drop by 50% isn't feasible. And to be honest some of the parts were also fitted to other makes/models, so putting Cosworth next to it bumps the price when if it said Escort/Sierra wouldn't sell as high.

Must admit, I have bid on a couple of parts, but not expecting to win any of them!

      Scouse.

most of the stuff is avialble, but he does have some stuff that you cant get, i remember years ago contacting him for the 4 outer door seals fora sierra as ford cant do them, he got them for me at a very good price brand new in ford boxes, i never used them and sold them couple years ago 3 times what i paid lol

i dont know how he does it but he can get hold of nla parts most of the time, i just think our fords dont want to help most of time

yrs ago when i was in my local dealers after some bits [which they no longer stocked] i mentioned that they had to supply parts for at least 10yrs after the car was no longer made and he said that was a load of rubbish? i was always led to believe it was correct, does anyone know? not that it matters now

It depends and it is stated in the contract when the car was bought new. It is usually period of 6 to 10 years after production ends.
Some like bmw and especially merc will supply you whatever you need/want, they even reproduce what you need if there is no in stock. So my next project is merc
I remember restoring my 1969 bmw, there are specialised shops for those cars parts but I could easily get everything from local dealer.

10 years is right for most Ford models, but since Cosworth was a low production cars, then they have other rules on that

You hear all the time people are loosing there jobs at hale wood in Speke due to a poor demand on there new car model and the recession as no one is buying ect but if they new the demand for all of these parts then surely it would make good economic sense to open up a part of the factory and start reproducing these parts thus giving people jobs and earning the company money it's not rocket science

Exactly, their are company's out there that are reproducing parts for vehicles and making a decent return, it's odd that Ford won't but they'd say it's not a long term solution so the time is better spent elsewhere or not at all

Ford don't make parts, they get them from outside suppliers who make them to fords specification. It's all well and good asking them to do another production run of parts but if the tooling has been lost, thrown away or worn out then there's no chance. That's if said company is even in existence any more.
