Do feel sorry for the poor old sod but i can't figure out how he manages this

Surely his left foot should have been covering or at least near the clutch ready for a downshift so how did his right foot get so far over ?

Have driven some cars where the pedals are so close that occasionaly touch two at the same time if wearing less than ideal shoes but never got into this state before
