  • General Question - Home insurance claim, electric bill?.

    Hi guys,
Quick question, we had a chimney fire on the 10th of December and the insurance have paid out for it to be rebuilt which is great but its been a slow process.
In the mean time we have been relying on 3 electric oil filled rads to keep the chill off as its freezing with no heating.
This has been on going for 3 months and as such we got our electricity bill today.... £734!
Do we have any right to claim some of that back via the insurance? It's so high due to the need for the electric rads.

Have you not got gas central heating or was that the only heating source. If so i would speak
to the insurance company and if they took to long to sort it i would ask them to help out.
Sometimes if you creep they can help, best of luck to you.

Yes wood burner runs our central heating we have no gas.
House would have been unliveable with out the heaters.
Will ring insurance in the morning and see what they say
