  • Changing my gearbox tomorrow - any tips? - PARTS URGENTLY REQUIRED

    Hi guys,

I'm changing my gearbox tomorrow for another standard one but in a better condition. Are there are last minute tips or ways which will make it easier?

I've got the use of a 2-post ramp, so access shouldn't be a problem. I just want to make sure I tackle it in the best way possible.

    Cheers,

    Rich

Think you can undo the gear leaver cradle off top of box when starting to lower then you don't need to take the inside of car apart to split the leaver pinsure I did this just can't remember

You don't need to unbolt gearstick cradle.

In the bottom of gear lever is a clip shaped like a horseshoe with a bar in middle. Remove that and it'll drop

you will need to remove the 4 bolts in the gear cradle if you plan on not emoving the gear stick
i would also slacken off the 4 bolts that hold up the engine cradle to ease removal of the box it stops it catching the bulk head
also undo the horse shoe clamps on the arb to get clearance
