I had similar problem some time ago. Wheels were rough after blasting (looked like stones were used instead of sand), surface looked really bad, but everything had been hidden with powder coating. They came really nice at the end, without any additional work, just powder

you can recover the surface of these by going over them again with either a glass bead or a finer grade of shot, like a garnet 80/120 grit. Blasting is just like sanding, you start off with a rough grade and work your way down to a finer grade prior to paint/powder.

the thing to watch out for especially on 18" type wheels is during blasting heat is generated in the area being blasted and this can be uneven if the nozzel is held in the same area too long and can warp wheels and haden/soften the metal in those areas causing cracking at a later date!.Always check them for "true" after blasting. As in aircraft you should only really use coconut shell or plastic media on Alloy safety critical components

Just send them to a proper wheel refurber such as lepsons/prisine and let them take care of them
