  • General Question - Alloy PAS bracketry & Alternator Brackets

    Hi Guys,

I am thinking about to get an intial batch of x4 alloy versions of Alternator bracket & Power Assisted Steering bracketry made up ( Alternator for BT versions only sorry ST owners), although a ST version could be sorted easily if someone has the bracketry to lend me??

They will be made from cast alloy and machined up exactly the same as the ford O.E. items, and will be a hell of a lot lighter which is my aim.

They can be either powdercoated or anodised, whichever tickles peoples fancy...

So who would be interested in these items? I am going to be using 1 set myself so there would be 3 sets available initially.

Prices are not firm yet but I estimate Alt = £55 and PAS = £70.....may be a bit more may be a bit less as these are not confirmed yet.

Not looking for commitment, just a show of interest to gauge weither to go ahead down the cast route, I could just make myself a billet version of the PAS but that would be selfish. Ialready have a billet alternator bracket.

    Cheers
    Dan

the ps/ and alternator bracket are all in one on the escorts bt and st, like the late 4wd sierras or have it got it wrong, as the way i read it sounds like the brackets are seperate like a 2wd where the p/s pump is on inlet side

BT escorts used same bracketry as 4x4 saph, the ST escort has alternator on top of a banana shaped bracket and sits quite high on it compared to a 2wd version that sits the alternator lower down..

I was under the impression that the PAS bracketry and pump are the same across all cossies, hope/think thats right.

I haven't got photos of the bracketry yet as my steel versions have been used as patterns for the moulds.

any chance of an engine bay pic georgie?

Particularly of the Power steering bracketry if you can get a 1/2 decent pic.

          Cheers

can just see it on the left

this is a late 4wd sierra on, which is the same as an escort cos bt and st the bracket on a escort on the inlet side is for air con as thats whewre the air con pumps sits on the escort, but on a 2wd sierra its the p/s pump

can see my p/s attached at the bottom and the alternator sits above it on this big bracket which is all one piece

Cheers rich, that clears it up a bit.

These are 2wd and early 4x4 saphs (before the polly V single belt later 4x4s)

                Cheers

yeah 2wd and early 4wds use the twin belt set up mate

the air con pump is on the inet side for 4wd sierras and escorts, but all escorts use that bracket im sure

though if you wanted to run a big turbo it would be worth changing to 2wd set up so the alternator isnt next to the exhaust manifold

Ok so who has the later style brackets going spare? I will do some escos brackets in same way (cast and machine)....as I bet that bracket is bloody heavy.

ok georgie I will put you down for one. However you'll need the version I dont have a bracket of to copy

I might ask a breaker and see how much they want for one.

                            Cheers

Are these the same as the RS500 style drop brackets?

If so then I have half a dozen of these in my garage
