is there any leather care cream etc, that gives a matt type finish as per orig? most of them need buffing up which then makes the seats all shiny

After treating the leather with a good cleaner you could try LV Protector (Colourlock product), it protects leather against UV and drying, and its paint against mechanical damage. Not glossy at all

Sonus Leather Conditioner is also worth a try, and gives nice, flat finish too.

Gliptone's G12 is also a good conditioner, flat finish, but it smells leather a little bit too much if you know what I mean.. and in my opinion leaves a thin layer of greasy film.

Try to search on Detailingworld forum for preview. It is possible that someone achieved good results on Escort leather before

All car interior leather should be matt, if its shiny then its dirty, Auto Finesse do a good leather cleaner and then you can treat it with either the Swissvax leather milk or and really good one for the price is Gtecniq L1 Leather care, try this place http://www.theultimatefinish.co.uk/c...ther-care.aspx and use the promo code MAYDAY75 and you'll get 7.5% discount

Definitive Wax's leather cleaner or Dr Leather or Swissvax do a Matt type cleaner, all above will add no gloss and remove the shiny greasy layer of the leather.

I was told not to worry to much about using leather creams/balms as its coated leather and as long as its looked after and kept in good nick the creams don't really do anything as they don't actually soak in to the coating on the leather.
