  • ive got some saving to do!

Just had a guy from a local body shop come and have a look at the floor pan of the escos as its in need of a resto.he knows what he's on about, they are autherised Aston martin restorers. I have 2 options... Repair what's needed for now,but as its not all the floor pan it can't be fully guaranteed, that will cost around 2500-3000.
He personally thinks the best way is to strip to bare shell, send it off for dipping, then repair everything, paint inside and out, replace sound deadening.. at a cost of 6000.
That's if I strip to bare shell and rebuild myself... Guess its gonna sit in the barn a while longer....

Its alot of money mate but one thing if you have the money or can get it i would pay it to drive in & back out only because i hate long term never ending projects that never see the light of day again

His usual customers can probably afford his specialised rates........ get other quotes, cheaper isn't necessarily inferior

Do the stripping yourself. Then blast the underside and go for welding £3k more like it

The floors rusted through where it meets the bulkhead panel, both sides, front seat rear anchor points have rusted through, rear of floorpan starting to go,rear panel has some corrosion, nearside outer sill needs replacing, maybe inner too. So,quite a lot... I know it sounds a lot,but it will be fully painted inside and out, doors, bootlid, bonnet, and it could do with a respray which can be 2000 alone. It's also got bubbling on 3 of the arches.. I'm in it for long term so I'm not too bothered if its takes longer...

He did also suggest that option, but I'm unsure if I would want to go that route.. you don't know what's hiding in any shell.. will it not devalue it to have a re-shell?

Speak to Gaz on here, from the pics I have seen he knows what hes doing when it comes to cosworths, worth getting a second opinion/quote!

If the car is a keeper then that's not really relevant. I always say spend your own money on a car for yourself not the next owner
