  • Oppliger gearbox

    Hi

I'm thinking about ordering one of Oppliger's standard ratio gear kits, as I'm running c380bhp so am probably on borrowed time for the standard box. According to their website the price is €1,600 (which at today's exchange rate is £1,405) plus carriage. Are there any UK distributors for these, or would I need to order direct from Oppliger in Italy?

I know they've got their short ratio gear kits on ebay, but they're £2,600 which is more than I want to spend (and at £1:€1 is also a crap exchange rate).

Second question, has anyone got any suggestions for who to get to build the gearkit into my box - ideally in the south east. I know BGH in Cranbrook in Kent have a good reputation for rebuilding Ford type 9 boxes, but no idead what they know about the 4x4 version.

    Thanks
    Dave

Thanks Chris - hadn't seen that Romain had replied to that thread. That's some inflation . So price now is just over £1,800 plus carriage plus c.£800 by the time it's built into my box, so not much change from £2,700.....

At that price I'm tempted to stick my standard box back in and run it til it breaks.

              Steve

That was based on a post by Mike R a while ago - the labour was only £200 or £250 - the rest was for new bearings, seals, resetting the vc to 60Nm etc.

Thanks Chris, but I'd rather go for one which will take 500bhp in case I get carried away in the future.....

Speak to Spiritof as he will have a contact number for Pete I haven't spoke to Pete in a few years sadly and don't know if I have correct details for him.

07774252837 I think that's Pete's number. I've got one of is gearkits and now hes just making me a taller 5th gear for the top speed run so I can run the supra diff and 3.9 drop gears, Top guy to deal with and really interesting to talk to about his old rally days
