  • Problem with banana pod oil pressure guage

    Hi Guys,

I've got a problem with the oil pressure guage on the banana pod, as soon as I turn the car to position 2 the guage pegs off the scale, it was playing up a bit yesterday randomly going off the scale but now it's just pegged as soon as power is turned onto the car. Even without engine running and both wires removed from oil pressure sender it's still pegged off the scale. Any ideas? Guage fooked?

    John.

Check the connections at the sender. If one has come off or is broken the gauge will go to 5Bar. If they're connected the wrong way around it will also go to 5Bar.

      Hi Scouse,

I've tried all the options now, nothing connected, connected, swapped and the guage still pegs at 5, could it be the sender than kanckered, anyway for me to put a voltage or something across the wire for the guage to at least rule the guage out?

i have seen the diode faulty on the pressure guage before , underthe plastic of the guage above the windings .
        cheers Brendan

So whats the best way to test this, can i put a multimeter on the pressure sender and measure the resistance? I have a multimeter but no clue how to use it so some 'multimeter for dummies' instructions would be appreciated

Ok, think i've found the problem, looks to be the wire from the sender, i've got the guage working again by fiddling around with the wire, bloody new wiring loom that's in the car aswell!
