  • Landrover freelander 2 TD4 - Good? Reliable? Any issues?

    As title really gents

We are on the look out for an 07 or 57 or above one of these as this is when they started fitting rear isofix fittings. We are ideally looking for a diesel automatic and have £10k to spend. I know that for this money there are some out there doing 100k+ mileage and some have only done 70-80k so mileage is fine as long as condition and servicing history are good.

We have identified a few but before we travel miles go and view i just wondered if you guys have owned or know somebody who has had one of these either good or bad.

    Thanks as always
    Mart.

I know the first freelancers were dreadfull but the 2nd generation ones are supposed to be much better my parents have had a range rover sport and a discovery 4 which have both had suspension problems and suffered with oil leaks.

They have had a freelancer as a lone car a couple of times they do drive real nice and the td4 goes quite well too.

If you want a nice family car get a 2009/2010 volvo v70 knocks spots off anything else around.. Iv had Audi/bmw and a load of other estates over the years and this is by far the best..

Yea I believe it's the ford 2.2 tdci which is quite a good engine to be fair although anything has to be better than the rover engines they used before.

Morning Andy, my mrs drove a mk1 at the weekend and liked it until i informed her that it didnt have isofix in the rear, she then spoke to guy salmon who told her the mk2 has it fitted from 07 onwards hence why we are now looking, we went to Derby at the weekend to test drive a 2003 Mercedes ML270 that was NOT as advertised! the reason we are looking at these now is we think they are the best car we can get of that type for 10k, i like the X5 for sale on here but my mrs hates beemers having had 3bad ones i would love a Range Rover sport but I'm being told the escort has to go if i want one of them so its safe to say i wont be having one anytime soon!

Rob: yours will have been a mk1 then not the model im referring too, worrying on the prop though!

Nice! Bit pricey for us though, that shape you have though are very nice indeed! Its for the winter and because we never realised how much stuff you need for a baby our VW golf company cars couldnt hold what we need when we go to Jos parents 5 times a year in Southampton!

Andy: disco are lovely but are just out of our price bracket sadly mate
