Our trouble is we are in the tourist industry, camper hire and B&B so we are running at 101% all season. We get time off in November and apparently the Nordschleife can be closed November /December due to Ice and Snow
I want to visit the Schwartzwald, Stutgard ( Porsche museum ), Nordschleife, Bremerhaven and Peenemunde for the U-boat Museums
So we need some good weather, Summer preferably or even Spring .
One day perhaps
July is the best time of year, just missing all the major events at the Ring and gets quieter for a short period. And the weather's hotter than here....I almost died in the heat
Whats the deal with cages these days, thought they were banned on tourist days?
I'm going in October after two days on track at Spa, typically the Ring open time is shite, we'll only get one evening session BUT as you say, it's not just about driving the track, it's a great area to go for a few days, I absolutely love it.

@ Blacky
Haha knew I'd get you back on here
Sounds like heaven, I just wish we could take time out in the summer from work
Next best thing is reading about members on here having been there. I really do like reading about road trips
They're fine mate, there were quite a few track based cars there with full cages with bars coming higher above the dash corner/door pillar and they weren't pulled off. But those ARE illegal for normal tourist days (track days are fine, anything goes). Also winged hans style seats like my driver seat are banned. But rear cages are fine and don't need padding at all. Full cages are allowed, just as long as the front sections don't exceed the dash level (despite loads getting away with it) and any body part that touches need to be padded.
I will always go in July now, guaranteed awesome weather, its just after all the main events at Nurburgring so is a good mix of busy and dead depending which days you refer to. The track on Saturday and Sunday is open from 8am-7pm and is completely dead between 8-10am and then from 4-7pm. If you go at this time of year for the evening session, they're dead as well. Its only after August it gets busy again

That's why I make these kinda write ups, to help others. True this one isn't as detailed as the Gatebil one, but its a tried and tested trip, so you really can't go wrong
@ Fletchcossie
Tell you what mate, they sounded amazing but need proper drivers behind the wheel to make them do what they're built to do. The owners of these ones were total pussies. In that pic where I get all my wheels off track, I was in a bit of a tiff with the grey one and tried to push him. Clearly that car is far more superior, but I scared him off.......and myself
