      only get one with warranty.
my mate had one that was under 2 years old and it needed a new turbo and inter cooler....the cost from HR owen plus it took 11 weeks to get a part
sports seem more costly in the long run,i'd have a diesel vogue if I was going to buy one

I'm a land Rover fan. I have always had Land Rovers all my life, from Series IIa all the range up to my Discovery 3. Bought brand new and now 88k. Not too much trouble really but is does go through brake discs and pads. (but i'm not pussying about and pretty hard on the brakes) Clock spring was changed and the header tank was changed as the sensor was cracked. Electronic hand brake can be a pain if you don't get the rear brakes cleaned every service. That's about it. Never had a Range Rover though but the underneath it is much the same so the faults will be similar.

I use it as a daily driver and for shooting. (and foxing, hence the lights)

same as mate, my mrs uses her disco everyday and the only problems we have had are the spare tyre winch, and lower boot door catch. bloomin' brilliant car drives lovely and will definately be getting another in a few years.

it was sorted cossy who's dad had a tdv8 in for a turbo change and it needed the body off - think the bill from landrover would have been 9k

If you have a v6 diesel sport for a turbo and head gasket you have to take the body off also if the dynamic stability ram goes its a body off job again I had one for 2 years only got rid whe the ram started to leak my old fella had one for 4 years and never had a problem with it . I would have another one tomorrow if I could afford to buy brand new with warranty but would stay clear of one out of warranty .

I've got a 55plate tdv6 Sport and its a amazing car. My uncle also has a supercharged sport and that's been faultless for the last 5 years.

A friend of mine works in the landrover dealers by me, he says they are pretty reliable if you buy a decent one to start off with. This is the info I gathered from talking to different people before buying one and doesn't include the newer stuff.

I got told to stay away from the v8 diesels, shit on fuel and out of all of them its the least reliable. Body off for a alternator and turbo change.

V6 has the best resale value and under a 2006 is the lower tax. You can change a alternator and turbo with the body still on apparently. I also get around 21 - 24mpg with mine on mixed driving.

Superchargers are the best value for money as they are generally cheaper and have a far better spec. Were also fitted with better electrics from new, alternators and the like so are more reliable. But are heavy on the juice!

Most common fault is the front lower bushes and front arb bushes. Easiest way to sort it is new front wishbones and fit them your self. £1500 for landrover to do but the parts are only a few hundred so do it yourself.
