  • Escort Cossie as an everyday car?

    Hi everyone
Presently in a GT3 which I want to park up for the winter.
Looking for a car to and from work as an every day car but can't find anything exciting.
Looked at the usual R32's and S3's etc and just not excited by them.
A friend of mine is selling his Cossie and I love them. Is it a viable proposition over winter?
Can you get them under sealed. I know I shouldn't, but I think I need convincing I should.
    Cheers

I would love to use mine everyday but it would deteriorate quite badly through the winter I would imagine it's a shame really

                Which GT3 have you got.
It might be worth running the GT3 over winter and keep the Cosworth as the Real Classic for the Summer. In 21 years from now I don't think the GT3 will be as valuable as the Cosworth

gt3 will always be worth more than any escort lol,
I'd buy a sub £20k high mileage 996tt and borrow your mates escort for the day.
I love my cossi but ive struggled to use a tank of fuel in mine all year- couldnt use it as a daily as the novelty would soon wear off and then you are left with a noisy old ford that you cant park anywhere for fear of it rusting away before you come back..

I'm not sure about that , there are 1999 996 GT3's for sub 30k or just on that amount . In another 10 years I wouldn't like to put money on it either way where will good Cosworths value be then ?? Who knows but time will tell.
Its not a fair comparison , I know, but you see where I'm coming from

If you have enough money to keep on top of the car, you can use it everyday. I used mine for a good 6 months everyday. Rain, wind and snow. I found the mechanics of the car was much better being used all the time but the bodywork will suffer a bit. Mainly down to salt getting trapped in the bodykit and sitting on the paintwork.

If you only plan on having it for a year or so in all weathers then I say do it. It is a car, it should be driven and enjoyed. Th 4x4 works very well is ice and snow and as longs as your not going for big power, it will be reliable.
