shouldn't cost that much u need a water rail and a few bits but quite an easy job and good strong engines

not much work, depends on how much you can do yourself really, but there are ready made kits from the likes of www.retro-ford.co.uk

I'm going to put my ST170 lump in the MG

I have a MK2 and put a 2.0 Zetec in it - all parts were new...alot / most came from retro ford.....guys name is Dave colledge....he will help you no end with any questions you have....

You will need a host of parts...water rail, sump, brackets to reverse the starter, hoses etc, the website gives you a good list of what's needed....you should allow a couple of grand for it plus what you pay for an engine and gearbox.....

Engines can still be got new....from around 800 / 900 quid....type 9 5 speed gearboxes are not to bad....you need different clutch and plates etc to mate to engine....again retro ford sell all.....

Then the big question will be carbs or throttle bodies.....I went throttle bodies....easy to start all year round....but it is more expensive.....as you need a mgmt system also....

For a light car with a 2.0 zetec whatever way u run it, it won't be slow.....

They are not that fast I think maybe in a lighter car it might feel better. If you chuck a V-tec honda engine ya would have poke. Alot of the rally men around here are doing that. They send the head off to get it worked so it will work in RWD wicked machines.

Nice cross flow for a beginner like yourself broome. Very simple bullet proof engine that you can lift out/work on very easily then upgrade when money skills allow
