Insurance Rip Off

Quick rant: -

Car insurance ran out last night. I forgot so rang up today to renew the policy of £208 per year TPF&T

Insurance Co.
"Sorry sir, your renewal quote isn't valid as you're now a new customer"

Me
"Mmm ok, how much is the policy ?"

Insurance Co.
"£486"

Me
"Pardon !"

Meanwhile I'm clicking away on Go Compare and get a quote from the same company for £386 after using the same correct details that are on the £208 renewal quote

Lots of convo which got me precisely nowhere apart from well and truly pissed off. Am now insured with someone else for £343.

By the way, no claims or convictions etc from last year to this year.

Got a quote from Need 2 Insure last year and they were a lot more so didn't bother this year.

Something I found out while looking for insurance and holidays.*
Delete your cookies and Internet history when shopping around online*
True story I was looking for a Hoilday a few years back got it for 700 quid per person all in left it a week or two as I was looking at other sites etc went back and it was 780 quid another week passed had another look was 830 quid.*

My misses went on her iPhone same details and she got a quote for 700.*
So being in IT I had a brain wave deleted the cookies/Internet history so it looks like I've never been on the web site before *and re did the search and guess what I got it for 700 quid again.*

Conning bastards

I'm not going to say this works all the time but it's helped me out a couple of times and a couple of mates.*

But would defo try it it takes less than a minute to do it and you could save money.*

That's very true, I have just had my web site updated by a new provider and I was offered an add on that gathered data from anyone that visited my site so I knew who visited and what pages they looked at and how long they were there, which would enable me to target them with sales info, I couldn't believe that this sort of stuff goes on out there! I declined it as I thought it morally wrong

You were ALOT more last year though Paul so I didn't think you'd be anywhere close tbh.

Thanks anyway but I'm sorted now as I had to get some insurance sharp ish or I couldn't leave work yesterday, especially as I drive past the police HQ's to get home
