  • Aux gauge fitting

    Hi all,

I'm in the process of installing a couple of Stack gauges. I have the wiring harnesses in position but am a little unsure where to power the gauges from. Where is the best place to get 12v from to power these gauges? I'm hoping to splice into the loom somewhere around the steering column. Can anyone give me any pointers as to which wires I should be looking for?

    Thanks in advance.

you can get a 12v feed of the radio or lights but you dont want a permanent live you want a 12 v when ign is on

Stereo should have an ignition feed and perm live feed

Best use the back of ign barrel as others have said and easier to get to

I used the positive supply from the heated front screen switch for my aux boost gauge. There's no chance of the screen getting used as I don't use it in winter and there's no splicing of wires as it's on a spade connector

Thanks for the pointers guys! I'll take the supply from the ignition barrel as most have recommended.

Lastly, i don't want the back light in the gauge to be on all the time. I only want it to be on when the rest of the dash lights are on. Any ideas where i can attach the 12v supple for the back light?

Thanks again for helping me out

For the lighting I would try and splice into the dimmer switch wiring.
