  • Engine bay fuel pipes - which is which?

Just a quick query guys. Just got my engine back in and tried to start it late yesterday - but no joy . Turns over but it's not firing.

Just want to eliminate one thing first - can someone confirm which of the 2 metal fuel pipes in the engine bay is the supply and which is return (in case I've got them connected back to front.....).

    Thanks
    Dave

take it off and see wich the fuel comes from. or see where the fuelfilter is, since that should be on pressureside.

Thanks Mark - aren't those colours only on the rubber hoses going to the fuel rail (sorry, I'm not near the car at the moment)? What I need to know is which of the 2 metal pipes is fee and which is return - so should the red go to the higher pipe nearest the passenger inner wing, or to the lower pipe nearer the engine?

        Thanks
        Dave

OK, for some reason my metal pipes don't seem to have any colour markings. Can someone with standard fuel pipes have a look at their car and confirm the pipe with the red marker is the one which is higher up and nearer the inner wing? This will save me grovelling around under the car trying to trace which pipe goes back to the fuel filter.

            Thanks
            Dave

Take return fuel rail pipe off the metal pipe and flick ign on. If fuel comes out the rubber pipe you have it right, if it comes out the metal pipe it's wrong. Obviously, don't have ign on long!!! Or smoke!!!
                Cheers, Kev.

If your afraid of fire just get 2 bits of long rubber fuel pipe extend them into a jar and ignition on

Thanks Mark - that's great! And I think I might have them back to front!
