  • Clutch slipping in 5th? How long have I got?

So, having just got the old girl back on the road (new brakes & battery), given her a proper clean up at the weekend, and started thoroughly enjoying it again, I fear the next problem is on the horizon

I haven't noticed any problems in 1st - 4th gears, and it seems to boost lovely, but when I was on the motorway in 5th, I put my foot down and it was accelerating ok, but then all of a sudden it was revving its granny off and not accelerating, (like the clutch was slipping) is this likely to be what it was? And if so, how long have I got left? Or could it be something else

    Pic from the weekend...

Defo sounds like clutch won't be to long before it gives up, just drive it gentle

hopefully not quite as expensive as you're thinking....... but then i don't know what you're expecting

Better to take it a little further to get it done but somone who knows how to do it rather than paying some mechanic to scratch his head for an hour while deciding what bolts to take out

Maybe take it to Mark Shead at MA Developments, think he's in Bucks so not too far

                Thanks Julian

Gonna go careful for a bit and see if the clutch will last a bit longer, while I save up the pennies...

i had a cozzeh that did that in 5th while i was racing a poxy rs turbo,i took the cozzeh up to about 120 and he was there trying to catch up so i booted it and it slipped like a bar of soap in the shower, had never done it before and never did it again,i think having looked at the clutch which was fine a std clutch can't hack the torque of a sooped up cozzeh in 5th when you drop the hammer

Love your wording haha, ah right, I will keep fingers crossed then, and foot off the throttle! But sometimes I just can't help myself
