  • Gearbox cradle removal

Whats the best way to remove it leaving the box in?
Is it best to support the box on a jack and then undo the cradle?

    Cheers
    Mat

Wont if you use the jack or axle stand to take the weight of the box - thus replicating the very thing your removing.

I would use a trolley jack to jack it up a little then place a axle stand under the box just incase your trolley jacks creaps!

Mat have you been to the zinc platers/powder coaters yet??

Its a trolley ...its a shopping trolley (you know, with the spastic front wheel!!)

droping the box that far down will surely knack the engine mounts..

Surely it wont be being dropped though, the bolts will be removed from the cradle, the box will be slightly higher if anything to loosen off the bolts from the cradle.
As said above I will just be replacing the bolts temporarily for a jack and axle stand.

                        Sorry I misread the post!

For some reason I thought you meant the cradle on top of the gearbox!

10 minute job, undo the nut in the bottom of the box, support gearbox with jack, bricks, wood etc... then remove the x4 mount fixings; leaving the box in place.

Why are you removing it? To bufty it I take it....
