Mat, you dont nessecarily need to have a Quaife Diff, an ATB doesnt suit everyone.
you could always run standard internals in a Quaife thickwall casing, as alot of the front diffs weaknesses come from its weak casing, hence the small effort of the strengthening plate that some people use.

mat i would if i was you just leave the box for now and the diffs but i would make shure the oil is good in all probley fiy an alcon 6 paddel clutch and plate, fit the strengthening plate to the front diff and go from there if the box is a good one then it should last ok just dont fit very sticky tyres on and hit the pod as that might be a bad idea

as afew said you dont really need the ATB unit the thickwall casing isn't a bad idea as they are stronger than standard

no matter which kit you go for with roughly 350 bhp they will all last it's just the standard box might blow up at 350

this is one reason why i hate the 4wd system transmission is an issue

you cant have a reliable car unless you spend thousands on transmission (over certian bhp)

just look at how many people have uprated diffs and gearboxes who have spent 10000's on transmission

350 is an odd figure, my mates 4x4 saff is running 380Bhp on completely stock transmission (bar a 6 paddle clutch), and has been for over 2 years now, and gets launched and driven like it's stolen, and is his daily runner, and has not broken anything ...

However, if you have the cash, I would go:

                    1) Bara big tooth box
                    2) Quaife/ford 909 thickwall front diff casing
                    3) Hydrualic clutch with twin plate from reyland
                    4) 2wd Rear beam+7.5" diff and 2wd 108mm shafts.

That is my Escos spec, which hopefully will handle 440ish BHP on a T38, with 500Bhp in mind for a future date

The prices on that Oppliger kit don't sound too bad, its a shame the Pound is worth nothing at the minute

My Escort ran at 350bhp on a standard box for about 4 years! (Including tracks, hard launches etc etc) Bizarrely it was only 5th gear that ever needed replacing (so it had a mid life rebuild)

It was the engine that let go first! In fact that box is still in it (albeit after another rebuild, but its not much different from standard!) with 390bhp ATW (don't think it will be for much longer though! )

I suppose its a bit like Triggers broom! At least I know the next time it has a problem I've got to go big!

What would you recommend diff and box wise for just over 500bhp Marco? (I've had loads of advice already but a twelfth opinion is always welcome!

                          Struggling to find 400BHP!

Seen the vid, sounds good. Is it on exchange basis ? I'm running 400bhp and my standard box is starting to rattle! Will need to do something about it soon.
