  • Sierra 4x4 Front hubs

Are they the same as the Escort Cosworth? The ones I'm looking at do have abs sensor holes and they look very similar to me.....
    Cheers

Ah, okay mate, thanks for that. If I could get this driveshaft out of the hub it wouldn't be an issue, but it's now snapped off a couple of my pulling tools. Any ideas how I can remove it? It's stuck solid. The other side came off as easy as anything with a puller.

Maybe I should take the assembly to a garage and give them the grief.
        Cheers

Soak them with wd40 overnight, wake up and beat them with a lump hammer

Take to a garage that has a press, that should sort it!

Took 4 weeks of inox, heat, hit, and force cycles to get one to let go. CV was trashed by the time it came out.

Put your puller on the hub. Apply a bit of tension and apply some penetrating oil and leave it for a few hours. Go back and give it a half turn and reapply if necessary.

Or bite the bullet and nip down to your local garage and ask them.

It won't come off guys. The shaft is knackered now but it still won't move a muscle from the hub, the end's so fat now I don't even know whether it will come out anyway. I've got one of my cars in for it's Mot on Monday so might take it down to the garage and see if they've got a press or can get some heat on it or something. I'm getting nowhere. Knocked one of the studs out by accident while trying but it will not move even a millimetre.

I think it might have to be the garage Dave, or I might just junk it because I'm going to replace a lot of it anyway.

You're not kidding. I could win on one of those things at the fairground where you wield a big hammer and try and make the thing hit the bell at the top, the amount of hammering I've been doing.

                              Hi,
Not sure if you have already tried these pullers.

I have used these tools to remove wheel hubs from a driveshaft after going through the same issue you've had. they just bolt onto the hub and centre nut/bolt will push the driveshaft out, remove everything else from the hub except for shock/suspension.

                              http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Otc-Tools-...#ht_1435wt_986

                              https://www.google.co.uk/shopping/pr...=0CCUQ8wIwADgo

As others have said already tighten up the puller, spray / soak with WD40, leave for 1hr and tighten the puller again and repeat.

You could also try to put everything back loosely, refit the wheel and roll the car slowly back and forward to load up the hub/driveshaft a little and then remove everything and try again.

                              good luck mate.

                              thx,
                              Manoj
