  • RS200 kit car..

Thinking of doing one (at some point in the future)
I know theres the kara ones that are around 25k (i wouldnt pay that for a replica of any car,and its not dimentionally correct anyway).
Then theres the banham ones which ARE dimentionally correct as they used the same molds bought from ford but engines in the front .(even so,i nearly bought one at one time with a 2.0 turbo in it lol)
Then theres this relitivly new body panel swap for the mk3 mr2..ok its a toyota, and its not totally correct (like the windscreen) but the engines in the right place and can be swapped for a mk2 turbo lump etc.
My mates are split down the middle, from ultra cool to it looks nothing like one and its shit.

Its about £3500 for everything inc windows etc..and you can pick up mr2's for peanuts nowadays..
It will never be a real one obviously but i think its pretty cool.
    Opinions?

    Few pics..

I dont think there is that many people who even know what an RS200 is to ask "is a real one" radman other than group B fans, old men or real enthusiasts.
And do you not hear that at every petrol station in your cossie coz i do haha.
Your not gunna fool anyone but you wouldnt want to unless your some kind of saddo .

Great for a laugh, more reliable and cheap to maintain too. Still wouldn't though, its sacrilege. A bit like the MR2's that get made to look like Ferrari F40's

Agree, imo comparing it to those shit ferrari kits is a little unfair.
                This is a guy i know's mk2 MR2 based one.
Its running about 400+ bhp i think, would destroy a genuine one.
This one is identical body as its a banham, not a panel swap

I'd love to do one one day, the engine would have to be in the back though

                          RS200 kit car..

Like the banham one. No excuse for shit wheels though. Get hubs modified or get custom splits don't put halfords wheels on a rs200 rep

I know owners of genuine RS200 cars and they have the same problem where ever they go, they get asked if it was genuine or kit car, I experienced the same question when I borrowed one.

                              Ahh sorry pal.
Yeah the usual front engine banham is based on a meistro lol.
                              Not the best really...
There also scooby ones but again, engine in the front.
Steveboyslim-i bet....just the same as an escos as so many people build replicas i always get asked if its real (usually younger people).
                              Older people seem to know.

The one in fast and furious movie wasnt a genuine one,was a kara kitcar one.
