  • Oil leaks

I knew my Cossie had a few oil leaks, but I got it out of the garage yesterday for a bit of therapeutic waxing and noticed a bit of steam/smoke where oil was dripping on something hot. It was coming from the area at the back left of the cam cover. Smelt lovely. Looking to get these sorted now and was hoping someone could recommend a decent place to take it in the South Wales area? Been to Evans Halshaw in Treforest in the past and won't be returning there. DG Weaver in Llantrisant were ok, but I'm looking for someone who really knows these cars. Fecking car!!!! Love it to bits tho

    Any help/ advice much appreciated

Possibly just a cam cover seal, oil seeping onto exhaust manifold? Unfortunately i don't know of any specialists in our area (South Wales) but i do know if a very trustworthy and reputable mechanic if you need a contact. Also happy to have a look at it with you if you want.

P.s lovely car! Not seen it around.

      Thanks Matt.

I believe the leaks are from the crank seal and the sump. Also been told that the cam cover may have been over tightened, which could have caused the paper gasket to split.

Think I commented on your car the other day in the cool pics thread

If it's rear crank seal then it's a gearbox out job, could also have contaminated the clutch so you may need to factor a new one in on the deal. The sump you can remove with the engine in but it's a shite job. Probably easier to drop the engine & box in one go and do all gaskets and seals whilst you're at it
