about £350 to £400 as they are a few quid each but that size comes up very big and is bigger than a normal 235/40/18 if you know what i mean and would probley rub on an escort as i want to run that size on mine and was told i might have problems, not trying to put anyone off just saying what i think is right

You're getting confused with the 235/40x17, which won't fit on the back of a Sapphire without arch mods.

The 235/40x18s fit on 8x18 ET15s with no clearance issues what-so-ever . I know, as I have a set .

The only issue is that on full lock they rub on the back arch depending which hand down you are, but then so do my 245/35x18s .

I credited all Escort owners with the intelligence to know that only the front of an Escort steers and has the capability to go on "full lock" . Obviously I will (in future) ammend my statements to take into account thickos like you .
