My battery was as dead as a doughnut and i put a optimate on it and it is like new now, it desulphanates the battery and revives it. i think mine took about a week to get back tiptop.

You may have killed it stinky but i would still recommend getting a opitimate, even if it dont revive your battery it will be good for the next one

So little update, been reading all about battery drain today, and I came across a post where the guy said his central locking wasn't working but the battery kept draining, so he removed the central locking fuse and all was ok.

So I did that today just for something to do, bingo, car is holding charge and starts first time everytime
Going to let it sit for a day or so to see if it holds charge ok

Amazing how much trouble one little 20 amp fuse can cause

PS my wife ain't gonna be happy, ordered a new battery this morning from eBay at £55 and now it might just sit in the garage doing nothing

An alternative to the C Tek charger is what's called a battery desulphator, it wont save a battery that have a short but this small thing supposedly keeps your batteries from ageing and keep them like new. There's plenty of different ones on ebay, even kits that you can solder yourself. I got the CLEN one and it wont let the battery level drop below 11 or 10 volts so it's safe to have it connected all the time, and it also show the voltage on the screen so that's a nice feature. The downside is that if you have a really old drained battery you need a charger connected as well as the desulphator (to keep the voltage up so it wont stop working) and it can take weeks to get it back to life this way. The good thing with C Tek chargers is they can detect right away if a battery is beyond repair.
