  • Cleaning off wax oil...

Hi guys, I have been cleaning up the front end of my cossie and in the recesses etc there is a yellowy wax oil and all the dirt has stuck to it over the years,
I have cleaned it all off and polished the area and has come up like new.

What I wanted to know is would this wax oil have been originally applied when new or has it been done since? Do people normally reapply it or is it more trouble than it's worth and best to just keep the areas clean.

The area in particular around the headlight was caked in it and was even all over the bottoms of the headlight, is all nice and clean now though. Is it best to just leave it as it is now or is there a product people recommend to reapply

    Thanks

    Thanks, Jamie

Its a tough one, if you want to use it in all weathers then some protection is an idea - you can get clear waxoyl.

My car was done from new from the inside out, and i'm certain that it is what saved mine from the sill problems that late cars suffer from. When the exterior of mine was painted, the car was re-waxoyled again from the inside out - 8 litres of it - simply due to me using it all year round.

Mine is only a dry weather car and is tucked up in the warm in the winter. But even so if it's worth putting something back on then I will do so. The wax oil has helped preserve it without a doubt, just a shame it attracts so much dirt and grime

You'll probably find the reason for it 'coming up
like new' is because someone took the time to
apply the stuff in the first place.
If it were me, I would reapply it to prevent any
issues in the future. If you don't want to coat
every surface, at least spray it into the box
sections, the seals and the chassis legs. This
should help prevent the car rusting from the
        inside out.

        Thanks,

        Matt.
