yes, they use the cars OBD port which is easy to access, plug in some key coding device and it programs a blank fob allowing you to start the car...

shockingly easy, even more shocking is the "how to" vids that are online...

owners are now taking steps to relocate/blank/or remove the port, problem is it still doesn't stop some looser breaking in thinking he can access it.

give me a key and a lock any day...

Saw this on the RSOC site yesterday. Quite scary really

The guy getting jumped by two dudes in balaclavas would make you think twice about even going out in the car. Bloody petrified of anything happening to the Cossie.

When I bought my cossie first thing I did was get the Clifford and blackjax installed.
If anyone remotely handy comes up and demands the keys then they can have them!
System works great and is well proven as every so often I forget to put the code in...'

My Car has Clifford, Tracker, steering wheel disc lock and numerous garage locks and alarms

Nothing is safe these days, if they really want it they will have it no matter what security devices you have.

                Sad times.

Such a shame these cars are being taken so easily, the only way to stop them is to have a live cougar in the car.

I take it non of you guys watched a program on channel 5 the other week , I forget what its called ...something like "Grand theft auto uk"......they interviewed car jackers and asked them how they steal cars .Well worth a watch if you can find it on youtube. One clip showed a White Range rover sport being stolen and hidden in a secluded place. The "computer wizz" gets a call from the person who stole it to say he has hidden it in a pre arranged spot. The "wizz" then drives to the car and gets his gadgets out and goes all around the car scanning for radio frequencies coming from the tracker. Then climbs inside the car and couples up a jammer through the cigarette lighter and simply changes the number plates and drives off ! He was saying they steal cars to order and once they have an order in they simply steal it,jam the tracker if fitted, change the plates and then stick it in a container. The last line of hope really is that the customs officials at the docks manage to stop and search the container before it gets boarded onto a container ship

Nothing these days is unstealable , Not even the new stuff.

Personally if I was to leave my car for any long period ide remove the fuse for the fuel pump, disconnect the coil,or plugs on the injectiors...ide do as much as i could to stop them stealing it or at least delaying the process but as mentioned if they want it bad enough they WILL take it

It's mental, but I suppose as the cars get better immobilised the crooks get better equipt too.

I always put my crook lock on my car, I suppose it's a visual detergent if anything!
